Makkah Route: First Hajj Flights from Bangladesh, Malaysia Arrive in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

JEDDAH: The first Hajj flights from Bangladesh and Malaysia have arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) under the “Makkah Route” initiative, Arab media reported on Sunday.

The Malaysian Hajj pilgrims arrived on Sunday at Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah from the “Makkah Route” initiative’s Hall at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

They were warmly welcomed by the Director of Passports in Madinah region, Major General Talal Al-Dabbasi, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for Visit Affairs in Madinah Mohammed Al-Bejawi.

Similarly, the 1st Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims also arrived on Sunday at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah from the “Makkah Route” initiative’s Hall at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.

They were welcomed with roses by government officials at the Airport. There were more than 27 government departments that participated in the Makkah Road Initiative in receiving the pilgrims.

The Ministry of Interior also expanded the “Makkah Route” initiative to Ivory Coast and Turkey for this year. The initiative will also serve in seven nations, including Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and Morocco, since launching the initiative for the first time in 2019.

The “Makkah Route” is one of the Ministry of Interior’s initiatives within the “Guests of God Service Program,” one of the programs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Vision 2030, that aims to complete the pilgrims’ mechanism and procedures from their countries.

As per the Makkah Route Initiative, all facilities will be provided to the pilgrims in one place. Similarly, the pilgrims are transported directly upon their arrival via buses to take them to their residences in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah with designated lanes, while the service agencies deliver their luggage to their area of residence.
