LONDON: Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel laureate and global advocate for girls’ education, has reiterated her plea for an “immediate and lasting ceasefire” to halt the ongoing Israeli violence and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Expressing deep concern over the plight of Palestinian children and families in Gaza, Malala emphasized the urgent need to end the suffering caused by the conflict. In a series of posts on social media platforms X and Instagram, the Pakistani activist underscored the unacceptable conditions faced by Gaza’s residents.

“It is unacceptable that children and families in Gaza are struggling to survive and facing these horrible conditions,” Malala stated. She urged for concerted international efforts to bring about peace and stability in the region.

Malala also shed light on the collaborative efforts of her organization, Malala Fund, with the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) to support young people affected by the conflict in Gaza. She highlighted initiatives aimed at providing medical and humanitarian relief, including the Gaza Amputee Project, Medical and Orphan Sponsorships, and the Gaza Pandemic Mental Health Initiative.

“In October last year, alongside our call for a ceasefire, @malalafund supported Palestine Children’s Relief Fund @thepcrf’s incredible work, providing medical and humanitarian relief to children and their families,” Malala shared on her social media.

Malala emphasized the devastating impact of living under constant threat of bombardment on children’s physical and mental well-being, especially when access to proper care and education is severely limited.

“Currently, more than 625,000 children in Gaza are unable to attend school, with no access to formal education,” Malala highlighted. She pointed out the urgent need for educational opportunities and psychological support for children affected by conflict trauma.

Malala concluded her posts by calling on her followers and supporters to stand in solidarity with the PCRF and advocate for peace in Gaza. She reiterated her plea for an immediate ceasefire to “end this needless violence and suffering,” stressing the importance of humanitarian aid and international support to alleviate the crisis.
