LONDON: Pakistani Nobel laureate and renowned human rights activist, Malala Yousafzai, is set to create history as she becomes the youngest speaker to deliver the prestigious 21st Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg, South Africa. The announcement was made by Verne Harris, Chief Executive of the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF), on X, formerly Twitter.

Scheduled for December 5, 2023, the lecture carries significant importance as it coincides with the tenth anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s passing, paying tribute to the legacy of the iconic leader. The Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture is one of the foundation’s flagship programs, dedicated to honoring Mandela’s enduring impact on the world.

Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s first black president, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for his remarkable efforts in promoting racial reconciliation in the nation deeply scarred by racial divides.
