HOLLYWOOD, USA: Malala Yousafzai sent the internet into a frenzy with her unexpected cameo in the second season of “We Are Lady Parts.” The youngest Nobel Prize winner appeared as a cowgirl in the second episode of the sitcom, which aired on Peacock on May 30, 2024.
“We Are Lady Parts,” created by Nida Manzoor, follows a Muslim girls’ punk-rock band in London. The episode featuring Malala also includes a song about her life titled “Malala Made Me Do It.”
In an interview with British Vogue, Malala shared her excitement about her debut in the entertainment world, revealing her “hidden talent.” Reflecting on her experience watching the first season, she said, “I binge-watched it in a day. It was entertaining. I loved it. But at that time, I had no idea they would eventually reach out to me.”
Malala explained her motivation for participating in the show: “I wanted to get into the entertainment world because I want young people and women to get a chance to reflect the world as they see it, and through those stories, we can all connect with each other.” She added, “I’ve always been behind the scenes – I never expected to be in a show myself. Now, I’m finally showing my hidden talent.”
The first season of “We Are Lady Parts” premiered on May 20, 2021. The much-anticipated second season began streaming on May 30, 2024, featuring Malala’s iconic appearance.
