Malaysian King Weeps During Meeting with President Xi

BEIJING: Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, the King of Malaysia has shared heartfelt memories of his late son with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The meeting was held at the Great Hall of the People on September 20, became an emotional exchange, highlighting the deep bonds of empathy and shared humanity.

Sultan Ibrahim, who has been in China since September 19 for a four-day visit, became visibly emotional as he recounted the struggles his son faced battling liver cancer.

He expressed gratitude to China for helping the late prince in undergoing a liver transplant at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in China.   Although the surgery was successful, he lastly passed away a year later.

The Sultan’s tears conveyed not only his enduring grief but also a father’s love that resonated deeply with those present. Both President Xi and Chinese Minister for Foreign Affair Wang Yi, who was also present at the meeting, were “deeply moved”, Malaysia’s Chinese daily Sin Chew reported.

Minister Nga Kor Ming, who was present during the meeting, saying, “They felt Sultan Ibrahim was a father who loves his son very much.”
