ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Organiser of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has accused the Supreme Court of Pakistan of imposing a form of “judicial martial law” in the country.

Speaking to Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) protesters outside the Supreme Court, Maryam Nawaz criticized the court’s actions, referring to them as the “fifth martial law” in Pakistan.

During her address, Maryam stated, “Today, when the army is standing with the democracy and Constitution of Pakistan… the fifth martial law in Pakistan… judicial martial law has been imposed from this building.”

While expressing respect for judges, the judiciary, and the law, she directed her comments towards former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his supporters, referring to them as “Imran’s facilitators.”

Maryam Nawaz also addressed Umar Ata Bandial, Chief Justice of Pakistan, questioning his reaction to the large gathering of protesters outside the court.

She asked Bandial, “Are you happy to see a sea of people outside the Supreme Court? Come, Umar Ata Bandial, and have a look at the real nation of Pakistan. They are here to ask you a question.”

Accompanied by Pakistan Democratic Movement President Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other leaders of the multi-party alliance, Maryam Nawaz’s speech took place amidst a peaceful demonstration outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad.

The Islamabad police confirmed that the situation in the capital city was peaceful but advised citizens to avoid the Red Zone area due to ongoing protests by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
