WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, has congratulated Khydeeja Alam, a Pakistani-American, on her recent appointment as the Executive Director of the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs.
The commission addresses the needs and concerns of Asian American and Pacific Islander American communities.
During a virtual meeting, Ambassador Khan expressed eagerness to collaborate with her in building connections between Pakistan and the United States. Khydeeja Alam, in response, described the appointment as a reflection of her values, expressing a desire to give back to her community. Having migrated from Pakistan to Hollister, California, in 1996 at the age of 13, Alam sees this opportunity as a means of contributing to her community.
She outlined her focus on combating anti-Asian hate, leading outreach efforts on cultural language sensitivity with state agencies, and prioritizing community upliftment across California. She also emphasizes addressing Islamophobia and antisemitism within her work.
Acknowledging Alam’s dedication to public service, Ambassador Masood Khan extends an invitation for her to visit Pakistan along with a delegation comprising entrepreneurs, tech experts, investors, and lawmakers from her constituency.
Ambassador Khan highlighted the abundant investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in IT, agriculture, mineral extraction, energy, and the tourism sector.
He emphasized the potential for establishing robust business connections between investors in Pakistan and their counterparts in California.
