ISLAMABAD: The Masood Mufti Scholarship will be awarded to students intending to pursue their studies in Urdu literature.
Urdu Literature: Masood Mufti Scholarship Announced for Literature Enthusiast
The aim of the scholarship is to encourage the new generation towards Urdu literature in the country. According to APP, the Masood Mufti scholarship worth Rs50,000 will be awarded every year to a talented student of the Urdu department.
Javeria Batool student in the 7th semester BS Urdu of Islami Universty has been awarded the scholarship this year.
It may be recalled that the scholarship has been initiated by the family of the prominent literary person Masood Mufti. Masood Mufti was a prominent Pakistani scholar, who wrote novels, short stories, columns, and drama.
He wrote a book Do Minar, just a few months before his death which is a comprehensive study of his life and Pakistan. The other books of Masood Mufti include “Chahray“, “Hum Nafas” and “Dhery Lamhay“.
Masood Mufti was a realistic writer and always writes in a reporting style. The heart of Mufti Masood always lay in literature and writing. He continued his job in the bureaucracy as well as became a well-known writer in Pakistan.
