TRINIDAD: Richard Illingworth and Nitin Menon would be on the on-field umpires when Afghanistan make history by playing in their first ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final.
An eight-run win against Bangladesh, via the DLS method, secured their spot from the Super 8s at Australia’s expense, according to a press release. Afghanistan will face South Africa in Trinidad on Wednesday, June 26, with a place in Saturday’s final at stake. South Africa aims to secure their first-ever appearance in an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final. Richard Kettleborough will be the TV Umpire, and Ahsan Raza will act as the Fourth Umpire.
In the second semi-final match, Chris Gaffaney and Rodney Tucker would be in middle as India and England meet for the second consecutive tournament. Reigning champions England secured their semi-final spot with a 10-wicket win against co-hosts USA, while India finished the Super 8s stage with a perfect record, including a 24-run victory over Australia. Joel Wilson will be the TV Umpire for this repeat of the 2022 semi-final, which saw England emerge victorious, with Paul Reiffel as the Fourth Umpire in Guyana on June 27.
