Khan also expressed his desire to watch a face-off between Pakistan and England in the mega event, set to unfold from February 19 to March 9, signalling Pakistan’s long-awaited revival as a host of major international cricket after nearly thirty years.
“I abide by a simple mantra: I always root for the victor, ensuring I never come away empty-handed. I’m optimistic this Champions Trophy will be a remarkable event,” he said.
The tournament will commence with an opening match in Karachi, where Pakistan will take on New Zealand, following a brief ceremony at the National Bank Cricket Stadium.
However, the most eagerly awaited encounter looms large—the fierce rivalry between Pakistan and India, scheduled for February 23 in Dubai, promises to be a thrilling spectacle.
Pakistani superstar Babar Azam
The 54-year-old Labour Party leader expressed hope that Pakistani superstar Babar Azam would find his rhythm and deliver stellar performances.
“England faced a tough defeat in India. I sincerely hope Babar Azam returns to his best. Australia remains a formidable opponent, and South Africa boast a solid team as well.
