ISLAMABAD: United States Agency for International Development Mission Director Reed Aeschliman said on Monday that media was playing an important role in bringing positive change in society.
Addressing a closing ceremony of the telecast project with USAID, he said that media acts as an effective lever for social change.
Aeschliman said that media is crucial in building perceptions in all societies. It serves as a platform to guide, educate, and build a better understanding of society.
Media’s genre drama
A serial aired in collaboration between a private broadcaster and USAID in which the idealistic goals of development initiatives like women’s empowerment and gender equality in Pakistan were nicely presented, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Producer of the serial, Shehla Rizwan, said that through ‘Sar e Rah (on the roadside), the play team tried to bring forth the stories of the unsung heroes of the society.
She said that the many characters in the play are based on real life. Through this play, the unsung heroes who have not only made their own lives better with USAID support but also played their role to positively impact society have been brought to the fore.
