LAHORE: During a recent interview for a local TV channel, actress Meera and her mother touched upon many topics.

The two were asked about the controversies, if any, that they found particularly offensive. Meera’s mother also revealed why the actor started refusing Bollywood film offers after a certain point.

When the host, Shajia Niazi, asked if any report that surfaced – related to her daughter – unsettled her or made her feel that “this” shouldn’t have happened, Meera’s mother responded in the negative. Meera, too, inquired if any news or controversy had ever disturbed her peace.

The host pressed further, suggesting that some instances might have been hurtful and questioning whether they wished certain matters had been verified with them before being publicized. Both Meera and her mother remained resilient, stating that they paid no attention to such matters and preferred not to dwell on things that brought sadness. Meera emphasized, “People look at me through their own perspective.”

Regarding Meera turning down Bollywood offers, her mother explained, “After starring in the film Nazar and appearing in Kasak, Meera received numerous offers. However, due to the unfamiliarity of the territory and the challenges of working alone, we refrained from venturing into Bollywood.” Despite this, Meera continues to receive offers from Bollywood, and she expressed regret for not taking up Yash Chopra’s film Jab Tak Hai Jaan, an offer she received during a visit to India for a Tsunami show.

When discussing Meera’s relationships with Bollywood celebrities, her mother mentioned that she could only speak positively about those who treated Meera well. She said that she received calls from Aishwarya Rai and Juhi Chawla, the latter even addressing her as “mom.” However, Meera clarified that she does not maintain contact with these actresses.
