Mercury in Karachi to Rise, Air to Remain Humid: Met Office

KARACHI: Hot and humid weather is expected in Karachi during the next 24 hours, with temperatures to remain between 35°C-37°C.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Tuesday that the temperature of the port city would drop to a minimum of 29°C, whereas the humidity will remain at 78 percent. The Met Office forecasted rain with dust, thunderstorm, and wind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, northeast Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, and upper and eastern areas of Sindh with isolated heavy falls and some hailstorms.

The federal capital will receive rain with thunderstorms, wind, dust, and isolated hailstorms.

The PMD predicted partly cloudy weather in most districts of Balochistan; however, rain with thunderstorms and wind is expected in Sibbi, Quetta, Chaman, Zhob, Barkhan, Pishin, Noshki, Qila Saifullah, Naseerabad, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, and surrounding areas.

In Punjab, windy and dusty weather is expected, with thunderstorms and rainfall to take over cities including Multan, Bhakkar, Lahore, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Layyah, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujrat, Sialkot, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Joharabad, Khushab, the Pothohar region, Murree, and Galliyat.

The southern and upper parts of the province may witness heavy falls with isolated hailstorms.

In Sindh, rain is likely accompanied by dusty wind and thunderstorms. Areas expected to receive this change in weather include Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tharparkar, Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Larkana, Kashmore Umarkot, and the adjoining regions. The Met Office claimed other districts of the province will remain dry.

According to the meteorological department, rainfall is expected to leave cities in KP soaked along with thunderstorms and dusty winds. Cities to receive downpours include Kohistan, Mansehra, Peshawar, Charsadda, Dir, Swat, Chitral, Swabi, Mardan, Bajaur, Abbottabad, Haripur, Nowshera, Kurram, Kohat, Waziristan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and Karak.

“During the forecast period, isolated hailstorms and significant rainfall are also anticipated. Another rain-wind thunderstorm is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan. In contrast, Kashmir will have wind, rain, and thunderstorms. Additionally, a solitary hailstorm is expected in the valley, according to the department.
