Met Office Predicts Rain, Snowfall from 25th February

ISLAMABAD: Meteorological Department on Saturday predicted another spell of rain and snowfall in the upper districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan and surrounding areas.

In context of the Met Office prediction, the Provincial Disasters Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also issued an alert to all the relevant district administrations for taking precautionary measures from Sunday onwards.

According to details, after the last week spill, further rain is expected indifferent parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with chances of snowfall over the mountains from February 25th to February.

According to a statement by Director General of PDMA, Muhammad Qaiser Khan landslides might be occurred in some hilly areas in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. “Directives have been issued to district administrations to ensure the availability of both small and heavy machinery, Qaiser Khan said.

He further said that in case of any emergency, all relevant organizations would remain vigilant in maintaining road links and issued instruction to the relevant officials to provide alternative routes in case of road closures.

Public to remain vigilant during rain, snowfall

The PDMA Chief also advised the public to remain vigilant and stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings, structures, signboards, billboards and other such points to avoid any untoward incidence.

In addition, the tourists and the local population in the northern areas were advised to keep themselves informed about weather conditions from media and relevant departments.
