Mickey Arthur appointed as Director of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of Mickey Arthur as the Director of the Pakistan men’s cricket team. Arthur will be responsible for formulating, designing, and overseeing crocket strategies behind the Pakistan men’s team.

The cricket board has also stated that Mickey Arthur will be part of the coaching staff for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup this year, away tour to Australia, Pakistan’s matches against India in the ACC Asia Cup, and home series against the West Indies.

Arthur previously served as the head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team from 2016 to 2019, during which he led the team to the number one position in Tests and T20Is, and also guided them to the ICC Champions Trophy victory in 2017.

Chairman of PCB Management Committee, Najam Sethi, expressed his pleasure in having Arthur rejoin the Pakistan men’s cricket team with an enhanced role.

Mickey Arthur will be drafting and implementing strategies

In his new role, Mickey Arthur will be responsible for drafting and implementing strategies for the upcoming assignments across all cricket formats.

He will also be tasked with strengthening the national team culture, identifying and grooming future stars to strengthen the bench strength of the team, and securing the team’s future strategically.

Having previously lived and worked in Pakistan, Arthur is familiar with the current players, structure, and system of the team.

Arthur expressed his excitement about returning to the Pakistan cricket team, stating that he is thrilled to be rejoining the team and looks forward to working with the group.

He added that the current group of players has the potential to be number one across all formats, and he will strive to create an environment that will contribute to enhancing their performances and extracting the best out of them.

This appointment comes as the Pakistan men’s cricket team is gearing up for a busy schedule, including the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and tours to Australia and the West Indies.

Arthur’s experience and knowledge of the team will undoubtedly be an asset to the Pakistan Cricket Board as they work towards achieving their goals.
