Microsoft To Remove WordPad Software: Report

NEW YORK: Microsoft has taken a very significant decision to remove WordPad, its decades-old text editor in Windows, local media reported on Tuesday.  As per reports, the decades-old WordPad has been around since Windows 95.

The firm will no longer update WordPad software, and the company will then eradicate it from a future version of Windows, reports added.

In a statement, Microsoft said, “WordPad will be removed in a future release of Windows and it is no longer being updated.

“We suggest Microsoft Word for rich text documents like doc and Windows Notepad for plain text documents like txt.”  However, the firm did not clarify why it would be abolishing the software.

The announcement of the removal was issued just after the firm updated Microsoft Notepad with automatic restoral of tabs and autosave.
