DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan: Dozens of militants launched a deadly attack on a police station in northern Pakistan, resulting in killing of at least 10 officers.

The assault occurred in the Chaudhwan police station in the Dera Ismail Khan district, with more than 30 terrorists engaging in a coordinated attack from three directions.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Akhtar Hayat Gandapur revealed that the exchange of fire lasted for over two and a half hours.

This incident adds to the rising security concerns just days before Pakistan is set to hold a general election, already marred by numerous attacks on candidates and their supporters. The attackers briefly gained control of the police station during the assault.
