Milli Mushaira Held to Honor Martyrs and ‘Ghazis’ in Connection with Pakistan Defense Day

ISLAMABAD: In commemoration of Pakistan Defense Day, a Milli Mushaira was held at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, dedicated to honoring the memory of Martyrs, ‘Ghazis,’ and national heroes.

The event witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Caretaker Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Madad Ali Sindhi as the chief guest and Caretaker Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Jamal Shah as the guest of honor.

Speaking at the gathering, Federal Minister Madad Ali Sindhi emphasized the significance of September 6th in Pakistan’s history. He recounted how, on this day in 1965, the armed forces and the people of Pakistan thwarted the nefarious designs of the enemy. He lauded the unparalleled courage and valor displayed by them during those critical times.

Federal Minister Jamal Shah extended the nation’s salute to the martyrs and ‘Ghazis’ who made supreme sacrifices in defense and security of the motherland. He also announced plans for a national-level literary conference on linguistics and folk literature, aimed at promoting literature and folk literary heritage. This conference will serve as a platform for regional literary academies and academicians from across the country to discuss languages, cultures, and literature.

Tributes Paid to National Heroes on Defense Day

The Milli Mushaira was jointly organized by the Pakistan Academy of Letters, the National Language Promotion Department, and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts. The event was presided over by prominent scholar Ihsan Akbar and moderated by Mahboob Zafar. A multitude of eminent poets, including Prof. Jalil Aali, Ali Akbar Abass, Dr. Inamul Haq Javeid, Naseem Sehar, Qayum Tahir, Manzar Naqvi, Zia ud Din Naeem, Ayesha Masood Malik, Abida Taqi, Shakeel Jazeb, Rehman Hafeez, Junaid Azhar, Dur e Shehwar Tuseef, Nusrat Masood, Dr. Shazia Akbar, Akbar Khan Niazi, Anjum Saleemi, Iqbal Hussain Afkar, Wafa Chishti, Sarwan Sindhi, Rashid Abbasi, Shakoor Ahsan, Nasir Bashir, Muhammad Latif, Zakir Rehman and Muhammad Imran attended the Mushaira. They paid glowing tributes to the Martyrs, ‘Ghazis,’ and national heroes through their poetic expressions, receiving thunderous applause from the audience.

Joint Secretary National Heritage and Culture Muzafar Ali Burki, Director General PNCA Muhammad Ayub Jamali, Chairman PAL Najiba Arif, and DG NLPD Prof. Saleem Mazhar graced the occasion with their presence, making it a fitting tribute to Pakistan’s brave defenders.
