Minister Vows to Propel Pharma Exports to $1b

Islamabad: Caretaker Minister for Commerce & Industries has vowed to increase Pakistan’s Pharmaceutical exports to $1 billion.

Dr. Gohar Ejaz said this during a meeting with a delegation of the Pharmaceutical Association, led by its Chairman Farooq Bukhari here on Monday.

According to a press release, the primary agenda of the meeting was to discuss ways to boost the pharmaceutical industry’s exports.  During the meeting, the target of achieving a $ 1 billion export was set for the industry.

Dr. Gohar Ejaz expressed his commitment and full support to the pharmaceutical sector, not only in his official capacity but also on a personal level.

He assured the delegation to create a conducive environment for the industry’s growth.  He further stressed the importance of focusing on exports to boost the country’s economic conditions.

The minister also announced to donate his entire income for the year to the welfare of the country.

The minister called upon the pharmaceutical delegation to formulate a comparative policy framework with regional states.

He directed the framework to be presented by Wednesday, with an objective of aligning with the regional pharma companies and facilitating increased exports.

The pharmaceutical industry representatives lauded the minister’s support and commitment to their sector.
