Ministerial Committee of Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit Discusses Gaza with Chinese Vice President

BEIJING: The Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit has met with the Vice President of China, Han Zheng in Beijing, and discussed developments in the Gaza strip, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah led the Ministerial Committee.

The members of the Ministerial Committee participated in the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi, Foreign Minister of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, Riad Malki, Secretary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hussein Ibrahim Taha.

The Chinese Vice President during the meeting lauded the high efforts of the joint Arab Islamic extraordinary summit in Riyadh, and the resulting decisions aimed at defusing the escalation, protecting civilians, and restoring peace efforts.

He stressed his country’s support for the efforts of the joint ministerial committee emerging from the summit.

The Chinese Vice President said that his country has been working, since the crisis started in Gaza, to strongly push for a ceasefire, protect civilians, ensuring humanitarian relief, and find a just solution to the Palestinian issue.

China keen to coordinate Islamic countries to achieve ceasefire in Gaza

He noted that China is keen to coordinate and work with Arab and Islamic countries to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, the members of the Ministerial Committee praised the positions taken by China regarding the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

They also pointed to the positive role played by China in the Security Council towards a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings, and the importance of reaching a ceasefire, protecting civilians, and basic facilities, including places of worship and hospitals, such as the storming of Al-Shifa Hospital.

The committee stressed the importance of immediately stopping the military escalation, the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, securing safe corridors for the entry of urgent humanitarian aid, and reviving the path of the peace process in accordance with international resolutions.

They called to guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The members of the ministerial committee stressed the importance of the global community to fulfil its responsibility, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, to move towards stopping the continuous Israeli violations of international laws.
