New Zealand Cricket (NZC) stated on Saturday that Mitchell will take rest as part of his workload management, with the team having already secured a 4-0 lead in the five-match series against Pakistan.
New Zealand’s coach Gary Stead said in a statement that Daryl is an important player for them across all three formats and ensuring he is in the best place to perform in international cricket.
The coach added Rachin is coming off a period of rest himself and will bring a valuable skill set to the group in this final match as he continues his return to cricket.
Devon Conway was also absent from Friday’s triumph due to a positive COVID-19 test. A determination on his participation in the final T20 match will be made by New Zealand on Sunday morning.
