SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: The policies enforced by the Indian government under Narendra Modi’s leadership in the occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir have exacerbated the suffering of its residents.

Kashmir Media Service has reported an enduring power crisis in the Kashmir valley, a consequence of the neglect by the administration installed by New Delhi. Continuous protests in IIOJK reflect the severity of the power scarcity, impacting lives, especially in the Valley, where power generation has hit unprecedented lows.

The dire situation has led to extensive blackouts, amplifying the hardships faced by Kashmiris, particularly during freezing temperatures. Healthcare, businesses, and education are severely affected by prolonged power cuts, creating substantial challenges for the local population. The administration imposed by New Delhi not only withholds electricity but also deprives the people of other fundamental necessities, debunking the promises made post the revocation of Article 370.

Despite India’s efforts to portray an illusion of peace and progress, the ground reality starkly contrasts this narrative. The actions taken by the Modi government in August 2019 have regressed IIOJK across all aspects of life, contradicting the claimed development and stability. The primary demand of Kashmiris remains a UN-sanctioned plebiscite, dismissing the purported economic advancements under India’s illegitimate occupation.
