Mohammad Haris to Captain Pakistan Shaheens in ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup

LAHORE: The Pakistan Shaheens cricket team, led by wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, will compete in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023, set to be held in Sri Lanka from July 14 to July 23. The team, consisting of promising young talents, will defend their title in the tournament.

Shaheens have been placed in Group A alongside India A, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, while Group B includes Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, followed by the final.

Prior to their departure for Sri Lanka, the squad will undergo a week-long training camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore starting from July 3, following the conclusion of the Eidul Azha holidays. The team is scheduled to arrive in Colombo on July 12.

Mohammad Haris’s Career

Mohammad Haris, a 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batter who has represented Pakistan in five ODIs and nine T20Is, has been appointed as the captain of the Shaheens for the first time. The squad also includes several other players with international experience, including Arshad Iqbal, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Tayyab Tahir.

The Shaheens’ opening match in the tournament will be against Nepal on July 14, followed by matches against India A on July 16 and Sri Lanka A on July 18.

The team is determined to showcase their skills and compete against strong opponents in their quest to retain the championship title. With a talented and promising lineup, the Shaheens aim to make their mark in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023.
