ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department announced on Sunday that monsoon rains are expected to commence across Pakistan from July 3 to 8. The upper regions of the country are experiencing the entry of humid winds from the Arabian Sea, indicating the arrival of the monsoon season.
According to the Meteorological Department, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Guliyat, and Chakwal are likely to experience heavy rain and hail as the monsoon rain series unfolds from July 3 to July 8. Furthermore, various areas, including Barkhan, Lasbela, DI Khan, and Multan, can expect rain accompanied by thundershowers between July 5 and 8.
Monsoon Rains Across Pakistan
On July 7 and 8, Sukkur, Jackabad, Thatta, Umarkot, and Hyderabad are expected to receive rainfall. The Meteorological Department has cautioned about the possibility of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and landslides in the hilly regions of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from July 4 to 7. Additionally, heavy rains are anticipated in DI Khan from July 6 to 8.
Given the potential risks, tourists have been advised to exercise caution, and all relevant agencies have been instructed to remain on high alert, as stated by the Meteorological Department.
The arrival of the monsoon season brings both relief and challenges for Pakistan.
