Monsoon Rains to Continue in Northern Pakistan: Met Office

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday predicted more monsoon rains in the upper parts of Pakistan during the current week. The monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea will likely penetrate these regions, and a westerly wave is expected to enter on August 3.

As a result of these weather systems, rain, wind-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in various areas. From August 2 (evening/night) to August 7, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and many other areas are likely to experience occasional rain and thunderstorms.

Monsoon Rains Forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The PMD predicted that from August 4 (evening/night) to August 7, parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that, include Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak, Dir, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad and North and South Waziristan are also have expected to have rains and wind-

Additionally, landslides may occur in hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the wet spell.

Moreover, the Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Kasur, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, and Bhakkar are also expected to have rain and wind-thundershowers with occasional gaps. The heavy rains may increase water flow in local Nullahs and streams in various regions.

Farmers have been advised to plan their activities according to the weather forecast, and tourists and travelers are urged to exercise extra caution to avoid untoward situations. The general public is advised to stay in safe places during windstorms, lightning, and heavy rains. The PMD also directed the concerned authorities to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures during this forecast period.
