ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has advised cars and vehicle drivers to use fog lights due to the dense concentration of fog hovering in the air, which has dropped visibility.

NHMP Inspector Saqib Mumtaz, while talking to APP, said that yellow fog lights in vehicles are designed to be used at low speed during mist, heavy fog, snow, and other poor-visibility contexts.

Inspector Mumtaz said that fog lamps in the vehicles are different from normal daytime lights, mounted low on the vehicles, as it is said that fog does not remain on the surface of the road but hovers 12 to 18 inches above the road surface.

NHMP Inspector Mumtaz said that headlights could be too bright during low visibility situations and reflect directly into drivers’ eyes, while experts prefer fog lights to travel during low visibility situations.

Inspector Mumtaz further said that fog lights are designed in a specific way that light directly illuminates the road instead of several feet off the ground.

Frontal fog lights are designed to help the drivers see the road ahead better during low visibility circumstances, while rear fog lights of vehicles help other drivers interpret distance.
