MQM-P Mulls Leaving Alliance with PDM-led Federal Govt

ISLAMABAD: Mutahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P)’s Rabita Committee members is holding a meeting to ponder about leaving the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led (PDM) federal government.

According to unnamed sources as reported by a local news channel, the meeting among MQM-P leader will make the final decision on whether to leave or stay in the federal government or not.

Earlier, the party’s federal ministers along with members of the National Assembly (MNAs) have given their resignation to Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

ECP decision to hold Sindh LG polls has irked MQM-P

In light of this development co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) ex-president Asif Ali Zardari telephoned the MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Zardari extended an assurance that the issues would be resolved through an understanding.

Prior to this development, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had rejected the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s decision to hold local government (LG) polls in Sindh on January 15.
