ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (N) senior leader Muhammad Zubair on Tuesday stressed that tax reforms and cooperation amongst national institutions were necessary to bring economic stability in the country.
In a talk with state television, he said that Pakistan needed trade opportunities and foreign direct investment instead of aid.
He said that exports should be increased to boost the economy and the exporters should be encouraged through different incentives.
Talking about Pakistan’s standby agreement with International Monetary Fund, Zubair said that the IMF program was crucial for the national economy and development that would bring financial discipline to the country, and would also increase foreign investors’ willingness to invest in various economic sectors.
Muhammad Zubair hopes inflation
In response to a query, he hoped that the inflation rate would soon decline and the normal economic activities would be resumed.
Responding to another question, he said that the government and opposition had their own obligations and it was everyone’s job to put the national economy back on track through long-term policies and collaborative efforts.
