Murree District Administration Urges Tourists to Prepare for Snowfall Season

ISLAMABAD: The Murree district administration has issued an advisory urging tourists to stay informed about weather updates and traffic conditions before embarking on their journeys to Murree and surrounding areas. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Murree, Zaheer Abbas Sherazi, has overseen the finalization of all arrangements for the upcoming snowfall season.

A spokesperson for the Murree district administration emphasized the importance of tourists adhering to instructions provided at all entry points to Murree. Stringent actions are being taken against violators of parking regulations to ensure smooth traffic flow.

In preparation for the snowfall season, a special control room has been established by the Murree District Administration, operating round the clock under the supervision of senior officers. Tourists encountering any difficulties are encouraged to seek assistance from designated tourist facilitation centers or contact emergency services, including Rescue-1122, Tourism Helpline-1421, or PDMA Helpline-1129.

Furthermore, various departments have deployed personnel at tourist facilitation centers to guide and assist tourists effectively. Machinery and manpower are being deployed to clear snow from roads, with the administration taking proactive measures to ensure tourist safety and convenience.

In light of the weather forecast predicting rain and snowfall in Murree on Sunday and Monday, the Murree district administration has placed all concerned departments on high alert. Thirteen tourist facilitation centers have been established at strategic locations, with emergency services readily available for tourist assistance.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed all concerned departments to remain vigilant in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas, issuing advisories for tourists to take necessary precautions. Weather conditions are expected to remain uncertain from February 17 to 22, prompting tourists to plan their trips accordingly and prioritize safety measures.

Director General (DG) PDMA, Imran Qureshi, has instructed the Murree administration to maintain heightened alertness, reassuring tourists that every effort is being made to disseminate information effectively and ensure their well-being. Tourists are advised to conduct thorough vehicle checks before traveling and carry essential supplies in anticipation of snowfall emergencies.
