ISLAMABAD/ CALIFORNIA: Twitter Inc’s Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk closed down two of three Twitter offices in India as part of the social media company’s cost-cutting measures.

Bloomberg, quoting people familiar with the matter, said that the social media company shut down offices in Mumbai and New Delhi but it continues to operate its office in Bengaluru, which mainly houses engineers.

Twitter’s staff

Under new owner Elon Musk, Twitter fired more than 90% of just over 200 of its staff in India last year, according to Bloomberg.

Last month, the company ordered at least a dozen more job cuts in Dublin and Singapore offices as part of broader cost-cutting measures at Twitter, which saw layoffs of about 3,700 employees in early November.

Twitter did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

It was unclear how the move would affect Twitter operations in India, a key market for global technology firms, because of its over 1.4 billion population and a growing number of tech-focused users.
