CHICAGO: Muslim community leaders from various swing states vowed to withdraw support for US President Joe Biden on Saturday at a conference in suburban Detroit, quoting his refusal to call for a truce in the Gaza Strip, Arab media reported.
Democrats in Michigan have already warned the White House that President Biden’s handling of the Hamas-Israel war could cost him enough support within the Arab American community to influence the results of the 2024 presidential polls.
Leaders from Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania and Nevada gathered behind a bookstand that read “Abandon Biden, truce now” in Dearborn, Michigan.
As per media reports, President Biden’s unwillingness to call for a trice has damaged his ties with the American Muslim community beyond mending, Minneapolis-based Jaylani Hussein said.

“Families and children are being wiped out with our tax dollars,” Hussein said. “What we are witnessing today is the tragedy upon tragedy.”
Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan were critical parts of the “blue wall” of states that President Biden returned to the Democratic column, supporting him win the elections in 2020.
Leaders of the community said that their support for President Biden has vanished as more Palestinian women, children and men are killed in the Gaza Strip. Hussein said that they have votes and will use that vote. However, Hussein clarified that the Muslim community leaders’ condemnation of President Biden does not hint support for Trump. He added that they have several options and will utilize all choices.
