ISLAMABAD: Muslims across the world, including in Pakistan, are observing Shab-e-Meraj, the sacred night marking the miraculous journey of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to the Heavens, with profound religious devotion and spiritual fervour.

Shab-e-Meraj, observed each year on the 27th night of Rajab, marks the miraculous night journey of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to the highest levels of the Heavens as ordained by Allah Almighty.

Muslims across the country, as elsewhere in the Islamic world, offer prayers, hold devotional activities, and seek blessings of Allah Almighty.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) was taken from Al-Haram mosque Makkah to Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on a heavenly animal named Al-Buraq. The incident is also narrated in the Holy Quran and it holds great reverence in Islam.

During the journey of Meraj, the command for the five daily prayers (Salat) was bestowed upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

During this sacred journey, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) met many other prophets and also led a prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Mosques are decorated and special prayers are being held across Pakistan on the occasion. The religious clerics discuss the incident of Meraj and highlight its importance in the teachings of Islam.

Shab-e-Meraj is not only a commemoration of the Prophet’s miraculous journey but also a call for Muslims to deepen their faith, seek forgiveness, and adhere to the principles of Islam.
