YANGON: Poultry business in Myanmar is facing loss due to the rocketing feed prices.

Burmese layer ducks farm owners are putting their ducks up for sale as price of broken rice animal feed went up by 33 per cent.

Farmers say the quality of the feed has also declined, causing egg production to plunge. Meanwhile, the price of duck eggs is also expected to decline. The fishery sector is also facing burdens of the high feed costs. Entrepreneurs have appealed to the government to make efforts for stabilitizing the prices of raw materials. However, U Khin Hlaing, vice chair of the Myanmar Livestock Federation, said layer poultry farms were financially doing well, and the federation has setup a plan to conduct awareness courses to increase production for livestock breeders.
