SEOUL: North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un has kicked off a key ruling party meeting, state media KCNA reported on Wednesday. As per media reports, the aim of the meeting is to unveil policy’s decisions for the upcoming year.
The 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea wraps up a year during which the country enshrined nuclear policy in its county’s constitution, successfully launched a satellite and fired a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), Reuters reported.

Earlier, the U.S. State Department stated that the top diplomats of South Korea, Japan and the United States held a call to discuss North Korea’s latest launch of a spy satellite which they strongly denounced. South Korea Foreign Minister Park Jin, Japan Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken strongly denounced the November 21st launch for its destabilizing impact on the region,” the State Department maintained.
In their call they said the world needed to “come together to stop North Korea’s procurement activities and stalk the flow of revenue supporting its unlawful ballistic missile programs and weapons of mass destruction,” the State Department further said.
