LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz is facing the challenge of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed Shehzad Farooq from NA-119 National Assembly constituency in the general elections 2024.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has secured 2119 votes, followed by PTI-backed independent candidate Shehzad Farooq with 729 votes.
As polling concludes across the National Assembly’s 266 constituencies, the process of vote counting has commenced, and results started pouring in.
With a total of over 128 million registered voters, comprising 69.2 million men and 59.3 million women, voters across the country participated in casting their ballots for a record number of 17,816 candidates vying for both National and provincial assembly seats.
The electoral landscape encompasses 5,121 candidates contending for the 266 general seats of the National Assembly, alongside 12,695 candidates competing for 593 seats across the four provincial assemblies.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has stipulated that unofficial and unverified results may only be disclosed post-6 pm, with strict adherence to the code of conduct mandated for all TV channels. Any violations will result in appropriate action being taken.
