ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has withdrawn the new Toshakhana case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, from the accountability court.

The withdrawal came ahead of a scheduled bail hearing for the case on Monday. Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, argued that the new Toshakhana case was no longer valid due to recent amendments to NAB laws, which rendered the crime non-existent under current legislation.

NAB’s prosecutor confirmed that, following the restoration of these amendments, the case fell outside NAB’s jurisdiction.

Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich of the accountability court took a three-hour recess before deciding to transfer the case to a Special Central Court.

The court also scheduled a hearing for bail applications on September 10.

Furthermore, Imran Khan has sought relief in a separate case involving 190 million pounds, citing the Supreme Court’s ruling on NAB amendments as grounds for acquittal.
