LAHORE: Female climber Naila Kiani on Thursday became the first Pakistani woman mountaineer to summit 8.163 metres high Manaslu, the world’s eighth tallest mountain in Nepal.
Naila who has become these days a trendsetter for Pakistani women in mountaineering reached the mountain top on Thursday morning after starting the final push towards the summit from camp 2 last evening.

Kiani is the only woman from Pakistan to reach the top of nine mountains which are over 8,000 metres high. She has previously successfully reached the top of Mount Everest, K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum 2, Annapurna, Lhotse and Broad Peak.
She is also the first woman from Pakistan to summit Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum 2, Lhotse and Broad Peak.
She is now planning to climb two peaks in China – Chuayo and Shishapangma – during the current season. Naila wants to summit all the 14 mountains which are over 8,000 metres tall.
A day earlier, Shehroz Kashif had reached the top of Manaslu.
