ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Wednesday continued discussion on President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to the joint sitting of the Parliament.
Participating in the debate, PPP Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that President Asif Ali Zardari called for political dialogue to find solutions to the problems confronting Pakistan.
He said it was the responsibility of the elected representatives to sit together to address public problems and steer the country out of economic crises.
Bilawal Bhutto urged all the provinces to extend maximum support to the federal government in providing quality facilities to the people in the health and education sectors.
He said the PPP-led Sindh Government was providing the best and free health facilities in the province. A public-private partnership model was adopted in Sindh to ensure quality education for the students.
The PPP Chairman also commended President Asif Ali Zardari’s acumen for meeting the demands of the protesting people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Other Members Address National Assembly
In her address in the National Assembly, PPP leader Shehla Raza said that the Pakistan People’s Party had always pursued the path of reconciliation and consensus building with the political parties to take Pakistan forward. Reconciliation is also important to strengthen the parliament, she added.
MQM-P leader Mustafa Kamal said that Karachi is the financial hub of Pakistan and its problems including that relating to water must be resolved.
JUI-F leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri called for providing maximum relief to the farmers in Balochistan. He said electricity should be provided at subsidized prices to the farmers. He also demanded separate universities for women across the country.
