ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly passed two private member’s bills and referred one legislative proposal to the relevant standing committee on Tuesday.
The Pakistan General Cosmetics Bill, 2023, sponsored by JUI-F lawmaker James Iqbal, aims to control the quality, standard, labeling, packing, manufacturing, storage, distribution, and sales of general cosmetics.
The bill was introduced in the House as reported by the appropriate standing committee and passed with two amendments.
National Assembly Passes Export Processing Zones Authority Bill
The House passed the Export Processing Zones Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2019, introduced by Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) lawmaker Zubaida Jalal.
The proposed amendment would achieve the goals of valuable public participation in the rule-making process, the Minister-in-Charge exercising meaningful authority to assume primary responsibility for the disposition of business pertaining to his portfolio, including rule-making, and efficient and effective parliamentary oversight of delegated legislation.
Following its introduction in the House, the National Institute of Technology Bill, 2023, was referred to the relevant committee. James Iqbal (JUI-F), Kesoo Mal Kheeal Das (PML-N), Syed Javed Hasnain (PMNL-N), Syed Imran Shahid Shah (PML-N), and Ch. Zulfiqar Bhinder sponsored the bill.
The House passed a motion to refer the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2023, to the joint sitting for consideration, moved by PML-N Lawmaker Syed Javed Hasnain.
In addition, the Standing Committee on Energy (Petroleum Division) submitted five reports in the House on the various subjects referred to them.
