ISLAMABAD: The Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, met with the Ambassador of Iran, H.E. Dr. Amiri Moghaddam, at Parliament House in Islamabad, focusing on enhancing parliamentary and economic ties between the two nations.
Reaffirming the deep fraternal bond between Pakistan and Iran, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the shared history, culture, and religion that underpin their relationship. He advocated for strengthening these ties further, particularly in energy and trade, to uplift the economies of both nations, especially those living along the common border.
Highlighting the strategic geographical positioning of Pakistan and Iran, the Speaker underscored significant opportunities for regional and global connectivity and trade promotion. While acknowledging the positive trajectory in bilateral trade, he urged both nations to explore untapped potential and address pending issues such as banking, trade, transportation, and energy in a cordial manner. He expressed optimism about resolving issues related to the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the pivotal role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and expressed intent to engage all relevant stakeholders regularly to support governmental efforts in expanding economic cooperation.
