National Security Committee Vows Swift Action Against Perpetrators of May 9 Riots

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired an important meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) to address the recent riots that occurred on May 9 in various cities of Pakistan.

The meeting, attended by federal ministers, military leadership, officials of secret agencies, and chief ministers, focused on evaluating the situation and formulating strategies to counter the rising incidents of violence and destruction.

During the meeting, heartfelt tributes were paid to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in service of the nation. The security forces were praised for their successful anti-terrorism efforts and covert operations carried out across the country.

Intelligence agencies presented a briefing on the recent events, revealing that acts of vandalism had occurred, resulting in damage to public and private properties.

Disturbingly, photographs of martyrs were desecrated, memorials were defaced, historical buildings were set ablaze, and military installations were targeted for vandalism. The briefing also highlighted the existence of a deliberate plan to orchestrate arsons.

In response, the National Security Committee, consisting of key stakeholders, is expected to deliberate on the situation and develop strategies to swiftly address the rising incidents of violence and destruction.

National Security Committee resolves to maintain law and order

The government, security forces, and intelligence agencies are determined to take prompt action against the perpetrators responsible for these acts and restore law and order in the country.

Prior to the NSC meeting, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir met with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, accompanied by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza. The meeting emphasized the exchange of thoughts on the law and order situation in the country.

Discussions focused on the operational readiness and professional matters of the armed forces, with the COAS briefing the prime minister on his recent visits to Oman and Qatar.

The government and security forces are resolute in their commitment to swiftly apprehend and take action against the perpetrators involved in the May 9 riots. The NSC meeting serves as a platform to address the situation, reinforce security measures, and restore peace and stability in the country.
