National Youth Forum Aims to Equip Girls with Skills to Serve Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: National Youth Forum serves as a platform for young women to assume leadership roles and become active members of various committees in their respective chapters. In this connection, the Pakistan Girl Guides Association National Headquarters has successfully organized the National Youth Forum under the theme “Empowering Youth for Leadership and Governance,” from June 25th-28th, 2024 in Islamabad.

The forum’s closing ceremony, held on June 28th, featured Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, as the Chief Guest, Maria Maud Sabri, National Commissioner of the Pakistan Girl Guides Association, welcomed Khan and other esteemed guests, providing an insightful overview of Guiding in Pakistan. She emphasized that the Guiding program aims to equip girls with skills and confidence to take initiative, solve problems, and foster a love for their community and country. She highlighted that Guiding strives to make girls agents of change, encouraging them to address social issues and take actionable steps towards solutions.

She further noted the importance of giving young women more responsibility within the Association, explaining that the Youth Forum was created to prepare future leaders. The forum serves as a platform for young women to assume leadership roles and become active members of various committees in their respective chapters.

In his address, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan lauded the Pakistan Girl Guides Association for its dedication to empowering young girls. He emphasized the crucial role youth play in the nation’s betterment, drawing on his extensive experience working with Girl Guides as the Minister of Education in Punjab. Khan expressed admiration for the Girl Guides Association’s efforts and highlighted the potential of the youth to overcome national challenges through commitment and volunteerism.

He announced the imminent launch of a National Youth Council via the Prime Minister’s Youth Portal, inviting girls to apply. The top 100 students selected will form a National Advisory Council, influencing decisions concerning youth affairs. He urged the National Commissioner to disseminate this message to all Guides.

On the occasion, he also shared that the Government is initiating a National Volunteer Corps focused on Climate Change and other awareness campaigns, with the Pakistan Girl Guides Association as a key partner. He stressed the importance of tolerance and advised the young leaders to set and strive towards personal goals, supporting their families, communities, and the nation. He also encouraged the girls to excel in the field of IT, emphasizing its significance for a prosperous future.

The National Youth Forum concluded on a high note, inspiring young leaders to take on greater responsibilities and contribute to the nation’s development through leadership and governance.
