LAHORE: Nawaz Sharif, leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has formally lodged a challenge against the election results for the National Assembly constituency NA-15 Mansehra. Shehzad Muhammad Gashtasab Khan, an independent candidate, emerged as the unofficial winner with 105,249 votes, while Nawaz Sharif secured 80,382 votes.
Sharif’s challenge to the Election Commission highlighted concerns regarding logistical hurdles in Mansehra due to heavy snowfall, resulting in communication disruptions during voting. He argued that these challenges could have impacted voter turnout and the overall integrity of the election.
Consequently, Sharif has requested that the outcome of the NA-15 Mansehra election be withheld pending a comprehensive investigation and resolution of the issues raised. The Election Commission will now assess Sharif’s application and consider the validity of his challenge.
