FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has pledged that if his party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), comes back to power after the general elections 2024, he will give the Orange Line Metro Train project to Faisalabad.
Addressing a campaign rally in Faisalabad, Nawaz Sharif thanked the people for their support and promised to deliver a metro train project if elected. He acknowledged his brother Shehbaz Sharif’s previous contribution of a metro bus to the city but emphasized his commitment to providing a metro train.
Assuring employment opportunities for every citizen in Faisalabad, Nawaz Sharif criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for failing to fulfill its promise of creating 10 million jobs. He urged Shehbaz Sharif to eradicate unemployment in Faisalabad within the next five years.
Pointing out Faisalabad’s location surrounded by motorways, Nawaz Sharif questioned the need for additional motorways and promised to construct one passing through the city.
Nawaz Sharif praised local PML-N leaders, including Chaudhry Sher Ali, Talal Chaudhry, and Rana Sanaullah, referring to them as loyal comrades. He highlighted the support of the youth for PML-N, asserting that the real youth supports his party.
The PML-N leader expressed his commitment to restoring the era when basic commodities were affordable. He contrasted his government’s achievements, such as ending load-shedding and terrorism, with the PTI’s protests. Nawaz Sharif claimed that if his government had not been ousted, there would be no unemployment.
He acknowledged being removed for not taking a salary from his son but pledged to prevent joblessness. Nawaz Sharif congratulated the people for their expected victory on February 8.
PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz praised the enthusiastic turnout of party supporters in Faisalabad, emphasizing that the PML-N competes based on service and performance, avoiding mudslinging or accusations.
Maryam Nawaz appreciated the role of Rana Sanaullah and hailed the loyalty of Talal Chaudhry, who supported Rana Sanaullah during his arrest. She emphasized the link between Faisalabad’s development and Pakistan’s progress, highlighting the importance of flourishing industries in both. Maryam Nawaz reiterated the PML-N’s commitment to competition through service and performance rather than personal attacks.
