Nawaz Sharif Vows No Politics of Revenge, Emphasizes Unity

LAHORE: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, Nawaz Sharif, marked his return to Lahore with a powerful speech at the historic Minar-e-Pakistan ground. He vowed to avoid a politics of revenge despite the mistreatment he endured during his years in exile and imprisonment.

Addressing a massive crowd at the Minar-e-Pakistan rally, Nawaz Sharif emphasized his status as a “son of the soil” and recounted the challenges he faced. Despite the political suppression, exile, and incarceration, he asserted that the PML-N remained more resilient than ever.

Nawaz Sharif highlighted his accomplishments during his previous terms as prime minister, focusing on his efforts to eliminate power outages and reduce electricity tariffs. He expressed a desire for reconciliation but acknowledged the lingering sorrows in his heart, particularly regarding his late mother and wife, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

During his speech, he drew attention to economic achievements, emphasizing decisions made in the best interests of Pakistan. He proudly mentioned his government’s refusal to yield to pressure and conduct nuclear tests, a stance that demonstrated his commitment to national interests.

Nawaz Sharif Expresses Concern Over Inflation

Comparing his tenure to subsequent governments, Nawaz Sharif raised concerns about the sharp increase in the US dollar’s exchange rate, leading to sharp inflation. He shared a striking comparison of electricity bills, highlighting the drastic surge in prices experienced by Pakistanis in recent years.

Expressing deep sorrow over his treatment despite his contributions, Nawaz Sharif emphasized his commitment to the nation and expressed his resolve to serve the people. He waved the flag of Palestine in solidarity against Israeli aggression and brutalities against innocent Palestinian people. He urged an end to hostilities against the people of Gaza.

Nawaz Sharif stressed the importance of cooperation with neighboring countries for Pakistan’s success and called for adherence to the Constitution by all state institutions, emphasizing its role as a safeguard for Pakistan’s sustainability.

The rally at Minar-e-Pakistan ground was a grand spectacle of political prowess, attended by enthusiastic supporters and notable leaders, including Maryam Nawaz, Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz beside others.
