ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory for public awareness about the weather on upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. “This advisory is in light of the forecast of a warmer than average temperature and chances of rain, wind and thunderstorms from June 15-19, which is expected to extend up to June 22,” according to the advisory.
The NDMA predicts chances of rain, wind and dust storm and thunderstorm in many areas of country including Gilgit, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, South Punjab and various parts of Sindh during the Eid holidays.
NDMA advises compete preparedness for potential floods and landslides, particularly in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir. The body urged the officials to ensure readiness to respond to any emergency situation, with machinery and staff pre-positioned in vulnerable parts of the country.
The NDMA asked the citizens to exercise caution, avoid weak structures and waterways, and stay updated on weather changing conditions while travelling to Northern areas of the country during Eid holidays.
It also called upon the tourists, farmers, livestock owners, and travelers to take protective steps for their safety and property besides following local advisories for fresh updates.
