ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has predicted heavy rain with wind and thunderstorms in parts of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan within next 24 to 72 hours.
Rainfall is expected to exceed 100mm in most parts of the Sindh including District Badin, Dadu, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Karachi, Kashmore, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Larkana, Matiari, Nagarparkar, Nausheroferoze, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Sanghar, Sujawal, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Allayar, Tharparkar, Thatta, Tando Muhammad Khan and Umarkot.
Heavy rainfall is likely to cause flooding in urban centers including Karachi and Hyderabad, while flash flooding is also likely in local streams and river tributaries.
Heavy rain is also expected in Balochistan and Punjab. Hill torrents of DG Khan, Taunsa and Rajanpur are likely to experience massive floods. Hill torrents of Balochistan also to experience floods.
Local nullahs would also witness increased flows. River flows are also expected to increase across the province.
NDMA urges all concerned authorities and the public to take necessary precautions to mitigate the impacts of flooding and heavy rains. NDMA also issued instructions to all relevant departments to alert Emergency Response Teams and mobilized resources to ensure a quick response to any emergency situations.
