ISLAMABAD: Around 40,000 Syrians who had fled homes affected by the deadly 6 February quake have returned from Turkiye to rebel-controlled northwestern Syria in the 2 weeks since Turkiye eased restrictions on their movements, a Syrian rebel and a Turkish official said.

The immigration was recorded at 4 border crossings held by Syrian armed groups opposed to President Bashar Assad.
