Nepal Commends Pakistan for Supporting Higher Education Exchange

ISLAMABAD: Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari, highlighted the strong bilateral relations marked by friendship, cordiality, and cooperation between Pakistan and Nepal during an event organized in connection with Nepal’s 9th Constitution Day and National Day.

The Ambassador stated that Pakistan and Nepal, both founding members of the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC), share a commitment to SAARC’s principles and objectives, as well as those of the United Nations.

The ambassador said that Nepal and Pakistan have cooperated in various bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums to promote global peace and development, with a specific focus on sustainable development, climate change, and environmental protection. They have stood by each other during times of disasters, such as the earthquake in Nepal and floods in Pakistan.

Pakistan has been a destination for Nepali students pursuing higher studies, particularly in medical science and engineering, under the Pakistan Technical Assistance Programme (PTAP). This educational exchange has strengthened the bonds between the two nations.

Business relations between Nepal and Pakistan are expanding, and Ambassador Adhikari called for joint efforts to revitalize these ties after the setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also highlighted Nepal’s thriving adventure tourism sector, welcoming Pakistani visitors to experience the country’s unique culture, landscapes, and hospitality.

Ambassador Adhikari expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries for their valuable presence at the celebration and extended his congratulations and best wishes to the Nepali community in attendance.

Nepal’s Constitution Day and National Day Celebrations

The celebration of Nepal’s Constitution Day and National Day served as a reminder of the enduring friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Pakistan.

Ambassador Adhikari highlighted the key features of Nepal’s constitution, emphasizing its commitment to democracy, human rights, peace, progress, prosperity, equality, and equity. He noted the constitution’s provisions for inclusivity, including the reservation of one-third of parliamentary and provincial assembly seats for women.
