Nepalese Envoy Urges Role of Pakistani Businessmen in Furthering Economic Ties

KARACHI: Nepal’s Ambassador Tapas Adhikari has said that Pakistani business community should work to translate the goodwill of the two countries into an economic partnership.

Adhikari, during a visit to the Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), met the Chamber President Mohammad Tariq Yousuf and other office bearers of KCCI and stressed that both Pakistan and Nepal were aspiring for development, and therefore, needed to fully capitalize on the economic opportunities available to them.

He said being neighbours, both Nepal and Pakistan had similar cultural and social backgrounds and the two countries enjoyed excellent bilateral ties marked by friendship, mutual trust and cooperation.

Adhikari shared the economic policies of the Nepalese government to attract foreign direct investment in the country that the Pakistani businessmen could utilize to promote trade and investment.

He said KCCI could play a key role in mobilizing the entrepreneurs and businessmen of Pakistan.

Adhikari said that Nepal was South Asia’s tourist-hub with an excellent hospitality industry.

He urged the members of the chamber to visit Nepal to explore business opportunities over there. He also invited them to visit the country alongside their friends and family to experience its hospitality, food, culture and other tourism-related activities.

The president and members of the chamber appreciated the Nepalese envoy’svisit and the information provided by him on business opportunities in Nepal. They expressed eagerness to work with the Nepalese embassy to strengthen economic relations between Nepal and Pakistan.

KCCI assures full support to boost economic ties

The members of the chamber said they would visit Nepal to explore business opportunities and interact with the country’s business community. They also assured KCCI’s full cooperation to the Nepalese Embassy for furthering Pakistan-Nepal economic ties.

A large number of people from Karachi’s business community attended the occasion.
